Inlay

Privacy

Your images never leave your device. Inlay has no server to send them to.

Your images

When you open an image in the app, your browser decodes it, traces it, lets you edit it and exports the result, all on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and we never receive, see or store your files. The app makes no network requests apart from loading its own code from this site, and its security policy stops its code from sending data anywhere else.

What stays in your browser

So a reload or a closed tab doesn't lose your work, the app keeps your current image, its settings and your edits in your browser's own storage. That copy is on your device only: we can't see it, and other sites can't read it. Start over in the app deletes it, and so does clearing this site's data in your browser. A private window keeps nothing once it's closed.

The app and the docs also remember your light or dark theme, and the app remembers the overlay colours you pick, in the same browser storage.

What we don't do

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers record basic details of each request (such as your IP address, browser and the page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't use those records to identify or follow you. See Vercel's privacy policy.

The npm package

inlaytrace runs inside your own code and makes no network requests. What happens to the images you trace with it is up to your application.

Questions

Email hello@inlaytrace.com. Inlay is open source, so you can also read the code to check any of this.
